Weird, I asked specifically if I could do this and they told me no - I needed to have a tech look at it first. This was annoying, but whatever, I made an appointment.
So the tech showed up, said that the issue was with my TV. It took me a few minutes of arguing before I realized that I should probably just show him it worked. After I plugged it in to my PC and the TV immediately showed an image, he relented and said that it must be my lines. More arguing about it never being an issue, maybe testing the line might make everyone feel better, etc.. Finally he gets irritated and replaces the portal with a new one from his truck, and voila - everything works.
Now why couldn't I have just exchanged it myself?
