Default Medical Question - Sore Elbow

So last spring I was wiped out on the ice while coaching hockey. I wound up having my feet swept out from underneath me and landing on my elbow and head. My elbow was sore for a few months but for the most part cleared up (my head seems fine - I think).

Last night I woke up at around 2am and my elbow was very sore and felt like I had just fallen on it the other day. It also seems like there is some fluid underneath the skin right on the outside of the elbow.

Anyone have any idea what the heck happened? Is this some kind of bursa sac thing? I have an appointment with the family Dr on Thursday - until then I'll try icing it - unless anyone else has any thoughts.
