And what other businesses might be open in Claresholm at 2 a.m.? A local truck stop restaurant, as one example? Did the ex-girlfriend convince her compatriots to help her knock on the ex-boyfriend's door to get some property she'd left behind and an argument ensued followed by a physical confrontation that went badly for the ex-boyfriend who then chased them with guns? Did she call him ahead of time and tell him she'd be stopping by to pick up some stuff? Was the ex-girlfriend flying to Fredricton as well or was she just dropping these guys off?
Imaginations are running rampant!!
Just saying, an hour and a half in Claresholm from 2 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. is a long, long time and, if you're heading to Calgary for a flight, why stop there at all? Were you killing time at the truck stop so you didn't have to kill time at the airport? If so, why leave Lethbridge at 1 a.m.?
It just seems there was probably a purpose for being in Claresholm and a long time was spent there. How did that involve the killer? A random encounter or a previously scheduled meeting?
What was happening in that hour and a half in Claresholm is probably where the meat of this story really lies.
None of my beeswax of course. Just interesting.

Then again, the time they left Lethbridge might be altogether wrong.
Maybe they left one place at 1:00 AM to pick up one of the others... then realized "hey we have a lot of time" Maybe they had a nap or watched a movie. ...
Just sayin' there is no way of knowing (at this point) where the extra time was spent.
