Default Having made his Marc, Savard is shipped out of town

(AP) Nashville, TN- The Nashville Predators made a big move late Thursday night. After dismantling Florida 6-1 they sent longtime center Marc Savard to Ottawa along with a second round pick for Ryan Whitney. Savard was playing very well in Nashville and was scoring at a point per game despite being injured for about a month.

"We wanted to give Marc a chance to win" said GM Slava. "He has served us really well, but as a team looking to get younger this deal just made sense for all parties concerned." The media jumped on the fact that the Predators were trying to get younger and yet traded a second round draft pick. "Well if you want a quality player coming back for your veterans you have to give something in return. The negotiations were fairly quick here because both GMs think its a far deal that helps their club."

Ryan Whitney has played in 34 games this season scoring 17 points through that time. He leaves a deeper blueline in Ottawa and immediately becomes the top defenceman in Nashville. He spoke to the media after the deal about his new squad "well going from an elite team in Ottawa to a middle of the pack team kind of sucks, but it could be way worse. Imagine if I was traded to somewhere like Colorado or Columbus?" Looks like he'll fit right in!

Thanks to Mike for the talks and trade.
