There has been suggestion by for example Scott Boras-Matsuzaka's agent to have a sliding scale system instead of posting. Essentially, the former japanese team will get compensation based on a percent of the player's salary but charged to the team not the player. The longer the player stays with that MLB team the higher the percentage each year on.
