LSU has already proven on the field that they're better than Alabama. Even if Bama is the second best team in the country, what does a rematch prove? Alabama might be better than OSU, but they also might not be. Why don't they deserve a first chance over Alabama getting a do-over (and having the benefit of not having to play an extra game vs. Georgia)?

You bring up good points, but this is flat out wrong. The only mandate of the NC game is to define the best, and second best teams in NCAA football. That's all its supposed to do. They establish a criteria to define the best and second best, and then let the teams sort themselves out under that criteria.
