As for ranking the conferences, the SEC has shown over the last 5 to 10 years that not only are they the best, but they are separating from the pack. Ok State had one of the worst defences in all of College football and they still won the BigXII. That defence would have handed them 2 or 3 losses in the SEC easy.

They have been the best conference the last few years, but this year it's some great teams and a whole lot of mediocrity.
And to just look at yards/game and say Oklahoma St. has a bad defense is ridiculous. These high tempo offense teams always give up lots of yards defensively because they score so quickly and on so few plays that the opposition offense gets a lot more time on the field than against a ball control team like Bama or LSU (not to say OSU is nearly as good as them). We heard the same argument about Oregon last year and they were one of the few teams to shut down Newton. Come back with the yards/play numbers and we'll talk. And that doesn't even mention the ridiculous amount of turnovers the OSU defense forces.
And who exactly in the SEC would pick on that defense? The inept offenses of Florida, Auburn, Tennesse, South Carolina?
