That is quite the incentive there. In WA state, it is a whole $100 extra/month per dependent beyond the $453 grant for a family of 2.

This example is an outlier of course, so you are looking at a whole $1953/mo for a family of 17 in WA state for the "welfare" portion.

And of course, you can get a tax deduction when you have kids to the tune of $3800 per dependent in 2012.
