Although most people will pick B, it doesn't make sense. It is the more widely accepted use though.
If it's Wednesday, the next Friday you encounter will be in two days.
If it's Wednesday, the next day would be Thursday. You wouldn't say I'll see you on the next day and then show up on Friday.
The next round of golf I play will be today. It won't be the second round I play.
If my friend says he'll pay me the $10 he owes me the next time he sees me, he'll pay me the first time he sees me, not the second time.
