I am guessing Hamilton fired MB so quickly so they could lock down Chamblin and not let the Riders get him.
DD is not ready to be a head coach, I think even he'd admit that. He needs a little bit more experience IMO under his belt.
Also, the clock isn't ticking...next year, the year after etc, he'll still be a prime candidate (goodness knows if Steve Burrato lasted as long as he did, DD has about a decade of time to get a HC gig) in most places as they come up. Plus, getting a HC job too early has you run the risk of tarnishing your reputation and not developing as a coordinator coach properly, when you have to wear many hats as opposed to being focused on one this early in a career.
