I bought my first PC and subsequently jumped on the net in 1996. I was truly blown away. I knew dick about any of it, but was always a bit of an information/tech junkie so I knew it was for me once I figured it out. My biggest fear was not knowing how to type.

The desktop was a Pentium 75 with a honkin' huge 16" monitor and state of the art 28.8 modem. It cost me over $3000. My dial up ISP was....I think called Canadian or Calgary Webmaster...I dunno, something like that.

I remember getting everything home and setup, then trying to log on with password and couldn't. I phoned them up and explained I couldn't log on because every character I type in password box is an asterisk! He killed himself laughing and explained what that was all about. Shaw came along very shortly after though and I hooked up with them. I can remember the Shaw rep telling me I was one of their first signups.

I still cant type.
