Ok, well here's a situation I faced last week on the subway.
It's relatively empty and there's a bigger guy with a cane (the blind kind not the walking kind, not sure what those are actually called) and a family of 4 asian women. Apparently one of the children, about 12, tapped him on the back to let him know a seat was available and he responded by ranting about not touching people from behind and a series of other bizarre things. It was quite clear he was mentally lacking. He then threw in the 'go back to where you came from' line (not sure if he heard them speaking another language or was just very familiar with the feel of Asian hands).
So what should I do there? I thought about saying something but what am I going to do, get in the face of a blind mentally challenged guy on the subway? The point is that it's not always as simple as puffing out your chest and playing hero.
