Pure speculation on my part ....

From watching the CNN report and that the reporter stated that many US soldiers were often unsure as to where the border were and as to where they were being attacked from, maybe they accidentally crossed the border and post OBL excursion the Pakistanis (who were embarassed at that excursion) consdered that as an act of invasion and decided to open fire.

Pakistanis reporting now that it was two different checkpoint posts that were attacked.

I would have thought that with modern technology now it would be as simple as plotting the co-ordinates of the border into a computer with an alarm system when crossed ..... no?
