A fellow was at a local Hockey tournament in Calgary couple of years ago. He had 5 sons playing for the same hockey team. I checked his name in the internet... speculation is he has over 18 wives and over 100 kids.

well ya, I was just using the two wives to illustrate, but obviously once you allow two wives you have no legitimate argument to allow no more than 2. Thats where its a mess. I know that there are cases where these guys have dozens of wives and pretty clearly that would be too big of a web to untangle from a tax/legal perspective. You could see the government never collect taxes on their income, investments, etc. for hundreds of years. I wish tbat was some sort of fear-mongering on my part, but it would be ridiculously easy.
Like I say this is aside from the social issues. I don't think anyone is in favour of allowing underaged kids to marry or the child-abuse that seems prevalent. I just didn't think that needed to be spelled out again!
