draft picks would be the answer.....picks seem to be a crap shoot. I managed to get what turned out to be second overall pick in one trade but the guy has been a plug so far only reaching 73 overall after 4 years. I've found if you manage to have a top 5 pick, if you either play the prospects game, or at least see the names of who your scout says to pick based on that game, that those guys at least have "B+" potential ratings. Which in reality, is a successful pick.
My 1st round pick last year, with another team's 8th overall pick, is currently a 67 overall rating, but an A+ offense, B+ defense, A- athleticism potential rating... problem is I forgot I didnt need to sign him to an entry level deal in the offseason, so now he's stuck on the 3rd/4th line in Abbotsford instead of in Jr.
