The official line is "we're standing up against inequalities & injustice in the world! We are in solidarity with Occupy Wallstreet!"
But in my opinion, it's nothing more than a "me too" protest. They saw the Occupy movement springing up in US cities and thought "oh man, I've gotta get in on that, sticking it to the man and all"
Typical calls for "ok, what are you doing here? what is you want?" have been met with "we're a leaderless movement with no defined goal or agenda, it's whatever consensus we reach in our vibrant public forum".
The most concise "demand" released by occupy calgary specifically has been a call for a Vibrant Public Forum. Which actually sounds pretty good on paper, until anyone with an opposite opinion ridiculed & shouted at & labeled a troll. So it's a Vibrant Public Forum... as long as you believe the same things as the occupiers.
