Good coaches know that you never underestimate the importance of character and team dynamics. The guys who can keep the locker room together, provide leadership and motivate those around them are just as useful as the guys with top-end skill. I can think of no greater example than one Craig Conroy who filled that role nicely. Dave Lowry was another.
I see John Ramage as a possible future captain. And you definitely want to develop personalities like that.
