My point is I think community pride has got absolutely nothing to do with it. A group is going to protest regardless if they believe something (which may break bylaws), so why should that affect your pride for your community? Whether they're part of your community or not. If your pride for where you live is affected by such a trivial thing, then maybe you ought to re-examine that.
Now, if your whole community protested something that you felt was ridiculous, then yes, that would affect your pride, as it should. But a group of 20-30 people, not so much. It'd be like me saying the protesters down at Olympic Plaza lessen my pride in Calgary. It's silly. Calgary is still a great city, regardless of who's protesting where.
