I wonder how many of those making over 100k work more than the standard 40 hours a week. Our company has a lot of positions that you can work into that will clear 100 plus 3 or 4 years after starting as a completely green employee with no experience or education. The downside is that to get there you have to work pretty hard with long hours and when you get the position you are still expected to maintain the workload. 90 hour weeks are not uncommon in the summer (although technically against Alberta labour laws) as is a schedule of 24 days on and 4 days off.
I think it is definitely a case of the money and opportunities are there for everyone but there are sacrifices required. I am not saying that everyone making six figures works harder than those who make less, just that you can get ahead through hard work and sacrifice.
