To illustrate:

Avg Halifax home price: $251 111

Average calgary Home price: $467,000

So at $467,000 The salary to home price at $100K is 4.67 years. Apply that in reverse to Halifax and you get a salary of $54K

So $54K in Halifax is equal to $100K in Calgary in terms of home purchasing power, not to mention the increased cost of food and entertainment in Calgary. I believe that supports my comment that $100K in Calgary = $40K in Halifax.
