Raptors wouldn't stand a chance against Homo Sapien Sapiens. Humans kill not just for food, but also for fun and protection. Nothing like a bunch of ****ed off humans chasing after Raptors for revenge. And Raptors still had very, very small brains. They simply weren't that intelligent.
Ever seen a Clovis point? Man pretty well decimated every large species in North America with those things. They'd penetrate Mammoth hide with them. NOVA had a nice special about them.
And of course, humans can live in areas Reptiles can't. Like here in Canada. I'd like to see a cold-blooded Raptor chase a gang of Humans in -40C weather. (And yes, I'm familiar with the whole Dinosaurs-were-warm-blooded theory).
As for life itself, there are questions as to whether or not we'd even recognize other forms of life that are extra-terrestrial.
Intelligent life on this planet is a major fluke. The only reason Humans even had a chance of evolving is because the Earth's crust is so thin that we have plate tectonics (most of the Earth's crust is in the form of the Moon). Without that, all of the land on this planet would have eroded billions of years ago due to water.
There are probably lots of water planets out there, with lots of dolphin and whale-like species. Nothing like Humans.
