I have a Nikon D80, I seem to have put the camera into some sort of inverse mode.

When its in Aperature mode the Shutter speed is set to 5 minutes when it should be set to 1/3 ish.

When in Shutter Speed mode its the same thing, the Aperature is set way off base.

When I set it to manual I can set both and everything is fine. I tried resetting the camera and turning it on and off and pulling the battery and its the same thing in S and A model.

I am new to the DSLR game and I am at a loss, I would hate to take a walk to the Camera Store and look like an idiot rather than just maybe sounding like an idiot on a flames message board Thanks
My 1st DSLR was the D80, great camera. I really put it through it's paces.

In Shutter mode you choose the shutter speed and the camera automatically adjusts aperture.

In Aperture mode you choose the aperture and the camera automatically adjusts shutter speed for optimal exposure, the camera defaults to the biggest aperture (if using a zoom lens)
Say you have an 18-200mm lens f/3.5-5.6 and you zoom out to 200mm the largest the aperture can be is f/5.6.

I typically shoot in aperture mode, as I don't need to control my shutter speed in most of my regular shooting.

Also, go create a flickr account and ask any and all questions in the groups that are gear specific. Some of the members are always around to help.

Also, have you updated your firmware to the latest version?
