The dangers of space isn't about time. We can hardly stay in space for 3 weeks withotu very harmful effects on our bodies. Right now, the "hump" to traveling to Mars is not speed or distance...
It is the deterioration of our bodies (bones in particular) that happens in weightlessness. Astronauts in top, top condition can bearly stay up in space for year. Upon return to earth they are incredibly weak and need therapy to rebuild their bodies. A 3-6 year mission is a death sentence.
Once we get over that hump we can deal with the radiation and so forth.
