I've had that happen a few times before. I live on a cul-de-sac, and several years most of my neighbours have had lights off and no decorations, so I think a lot of kids skip it as not worth the effort for 2 or 3 houses. This year almost everyone was giving out candy and a few houses had highly visible decorations, so a higher percentage of the kids seemed to come onto the cul-de-sac.
