I have a Dell Axim X51V and I quite like it -- there are "known" issues with Windows Mobile 5, but it hasn't caused me any grief. Any PDA which has Windows Mobile 5 will have the same issues, unless the manufacturor has a workaround.
If you want to use your PDA to view pictures, video, etc get a PDA that has a VGA screen - it will be worth the extra $$$
