I believe the Bear is the symbol of Russia.
I'm one for sticking with tradition, and hope we stay with the Beaver. I like the idea that it's hard working, builds a house for its family, and makes great trout ponds. Although I don't like their tendency to hack down everything in sight. Maybe we could retrain them to be a little less destructive.
