It's always wiser to keep your current customers than try and set up new ones. Especially an MMO with 4 expansions.

Not to mention the vanity pets and mounts they sell now.
I read on gaming forum a while back that statistically, the average age of a MMORPG is 24-27 or something like that, meaning that there are probably a lot players older and younger than that as well. The most vocal and hardcore ones though seem to be teenagers. There is a reason why Blizzard made so many changes to appeal to more casuals. People in their mid-20s do not tend to have the time needed to compete in the game and were dropping out.
