The Toronto Blue Jays claimed right-handed pitcher Jesse Chavez off waivers from the Kansas City Royals on Friday.

Also Friday, the Blue Jays announced pitcher Rommie Lewis, infielder Chris Woodward and outfielder Dewayne Wise have elected to become free agents.
