Better pools at MGM compared to the pool at NYNY. Although you should be able to get some really good pricing at NYNY.
I think Trop just went through room renos too, but I had a friend who stayed there this last spring and she said she wouldn't stay there again, but I can't remember her reasons why.
I can't tell you a thing about Monte Carlo.

Monte Carlo I find is kind of a dump when it comes to rooms. Uncomfortable beds, outdated rooms and probably the most unfriendly staff I've encountered in any of the strip hotels. I won't ever be staying there again.
