From my understanding the major combat vessel program will include coastal defence and additional new generation frigates (But I could be wrong) my only dissapointment is that there isn't a designated replacement for Canada's aging Irquiois Destroyers which are the command and control element that would allow us to form proper task forces. Without them, we will continue to take a escort role in any international missions.
The 8 arctic patrol vessels are essential as are new coastal defense vessels.
But there is still a hole in our naval strategy overall.
the icebreakers are nice to see.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the new Canadian Single Class Surface combatant (which is part of this contract) replaces both the Iroquois and the Halifax?
