As for design. Maybe it's just me, but I find the IPhone to look pretty dated these days. When it first came out, it look new and sleek, but now I just find it kind of cliched looking.
I'll admit the Iphone has a sturdier feel, but I think that is probably part of the problem. The drop test demonstrates how the heavier harder materials crack and shatter more easily.

Samsung is cheaply made with plastic. Yes, it’s obviously not going to shutter like the Iphone’s glass. The iphone looks and feels like a million bucks compared to a Samsung phone.
As far as design goes, what’s there to be designed in a Samsung. They put the components on the circuit board and built a plastic cover on top. That’s why they don’t have smooth lines, it’s thinner here, thicker there etc. No design whatsoever.
The older Galaxy S at least was consistent. But then again, it was a complete rip off of the 3G.
From the Android phones I think Sony (xperia) makes the best looking ones.
As for the bolded part. That's how I feel about the white iphones. Not sure why, but I dont like the white ones with the white front. My wife has a white 3GS, but with the black front it looks really good still.
