This is the issue that is bugging me.
First off I am not 'that' old. I consider mid 30's still pretty young. But this current generation just doesn't get it. This generation thinks they are the only generation that has faced any sort of adversity. I remember coming home when I was 7, and my dad had his face buried in his hands crying his eyes out, and my mother was consoling him. He had lost his job as a result of the NEP, and we were going to lose our home as a result.
My dad, an engineer, instead of woe is me'ing like today's generation, chose to put his skill set from his youth to work as a carpenter, and started a small renovations/handyman business. We downgraded, and moved from the big house on the lake, to a dinky bungalow forclosure that needed a ton of fixing up. He chose to adapt, and survive. Do you think one of the most talented engineers of his generation, liked replacing toilets, or patching up drywall. Of course not, but he came from a generation that did what it took. He didn't protest, or make an ass of himself. He took lemons, and made the best lemonade he could out of it.
Sh1t happens, and it always will happen. Instead of complaining, get out there, take a crappy job, and be the absolute best you can be at that job. You might actually learn something about yourself, and you might even get promoted or get noticed by someone with a better job to offer. I went through a absolute rock bottom low point where I had no choice but to take a job delivering Pizza for Panago. I delivered a Pizza to the house of the owner that owned the first dealership I worked for. Instead of making him pay the bill, I handed him a resume and said he can pay me back with an interview. 12 years later, I am still with the same brand, and in a management capacity, all without even a grade 11 education.
Sitting back and bitching about the man holding you back is weak. Get out there and take control of your own destiny. No jobs in your field of education.. too bad, do something else, life is short. Complaining isn't taking control, it is the weak chicken sh1t way out.
