Default WEEK 15: STAMPEDERS vs BC Lions

WEEK 15: STAMPEDERS vs BC Lions

An important game for Stampeders tonight. Win this game and they are 4 points ahead of BC Lions and Eskimos(depending if they lose their game this week). Lose this game and they might be looking at 2nd or 3rd place in the West. Stamps won against the Lions in BC this season but that was at Empire Stadium 34-32. Also with the win tonight, Stamps will clinch the playoff spot.

OFFENSE:

Monster game for RB Jon Cornish and the Offensive Line last week against the Riders. Cornish finished the game against the Riders with 13 carries and 149 rushing yards and 2 TDs as well as 32 yards receiving. That earned him the Offensive Player of the Week and Canadian Player of the Week at the same time. Cornish also won the Canadian Player of the Month. LaMarcus Coker also had a good game with 11 carries and 66 yards. The Stamps ran the ball so well against the Riders and I hope Coach Dickenson sticks to not abandoning the run from now on.

The Offensive Line played so well giving Cornish, Coker and Burris a lot of room and time all game vs the Riders. Against the Lions defense might be tougher but I am sure they can handle the pressure and give Cornish and the gang some room tonight.

Nik Lewis needs 42 receiving yards to hit the 1,000 yards plateau giving him with 7th consecutive seasons with 1,000 yards receiving. Ken-Yon Rambo will not be playing tonight due to injury. He will be replaced by Landan Talley. The first game Talley replaced Rambo on the lineup and it was against BC, he had a great game but the last time he was in the lineup (vs Hamilton), he had a terrible game, fumbled once, and a few dropped passes. Which Talley are we going to see tonight? Henry Burris is closing in passing Doug Flutie for 6th place in career passing yards. He just needs around 358 yards passing yards I believe.

DEFENSE:

Offense was not the only one who had a great game against the Riders last week. Defense was awesome as well. DE Charleston Hughes played a monster game with 2 QB sacks, fumble recovery for a touchdown and one forced fumble. QB Darian Durant probably had a nightmare that night about seeing Hughes in his dream all night.

DL Kevin Dixon and rookie Canadian DE Brian Bulcke both had their first career QB sack last week.

DL Devone Claybrook will be back in the lineup tonight.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

It looks like kicker Rene Paredes will be suiting up again ahead of Rob Maver. Maver has been healthy for the past two games but Coach Hufnagel is in no rush of putting him back in the lineup ahead of Paredes.

With Talley in the lineup, the Stamps will have Coker and Talley to rest or play side by side with Larry Taylor on the return game.

************************************************** ******

Stampeders reduced their penalty parades last week. No dumb penalties and no turnovers last week. They must stay discipline all game against the Lions and not give Travis Lulay another chance to move the ball. Defense needs to pressure Lulay all night and that might be tougher now with the Lions OLine improving every game.
GO STAMPS GO!!!!

Game time: 8:00pm at the Dome. Get your PVR ready to record this game or the Flames game playing at the same time.
