All I'm saying is why all the rush, work out the numbers and then do what you think it's right. For once, I actually prefer the way Stelmach ran things, not spending like a drunken sailor.

It is investing in education for christs sake, it is shown to have positive impacts for people as well as the economy over the long term. In fact I can't think of that many short term gains associated with spending money on education - in fact I would hazard a guess that 99% of the gains from education come from the LONG TERM GAINS. In fact people with disabilities, primary health care (preventative health care), education and most of what she pledged money for - actually SAVES money over the long term. I could cut and slash the budget for a lot of services but in 10 years time when you see the graduation rate in Alberta being near the bottom (ok it is the worst province right now, but we are still ahead of the Territories!). Or you could look at the statistics which measure the health of the population (once again Alberta ranks near the bottom).
I am going to assume you have no idea how Stelmach ran things if you think that he was known for his efficient spending and that you are getting your information out of the Calgary Sun... he just pledged 25 million dollars towards a week long party!
Lastly - how is education considered a special interest group!?
