This. People said the iPad wouldn't work because Tablets weren't successful up to that point. It was also said that building a physical store was was a bad idea, as was making a smart phone. These ideas were based off the idea that current models were poor.
Apple takes a lot of heat for claiming that they are the first to do a lot of things and I can agree with that criticism. In many cases what they are (imo) is the first company to do those things with the user in mind. Yes voice control sucks as it is today, but from the examples I've seen they are taking it to a different level where you speak naturally and not with a set of commands. We won't know until we get to try it, but my experience with Apple products leads me to believe it will execute well enough that speech tech will become more of a mainstay than many believe.
