Also travelled to Huangshan this week, which is the most beautiful scenic place I have been to in China. A cloudy day, but really beautiful mountains.
It was a 7km uphill hike, and because it was National Day here there were over 30,000 people heading up the mountain that day. Families with very young children and even white-haired elderly people with canes were making this very long uphill climb.

I would certainly recommend Huangshan to anyone visiting China.
Edit: China has five mountains that are considered great mountains in Chinese culture. There is apparently also a saying here that if you see these five mountains you don't need to see any other mountains in China, but if you see Huangshan you don't need to see any of the other greats.
