The point I want to make is that all things equal, the iPhone has a sharper screen than any Android device. Is it wrong to argue this using PPI as a reference?

To me 1900 x 1200 over 55" or 600 x 400 over 4.5" is not as sharp as 800 x 600 over 3.5". You need to calculate based on resolution by screen size. So I used PPI to level the field.

I think I phrased my argument wrong, or I am totally out to lunch on how to equally measure the sharpness of two different sized displays.
I was responding to you saying that a 1080p TV had a lower resolution than any current Android phone. On that you were out to lunch.

Pixel density * viewing distance = perceived "sharpness". That's the point you were trying to make, just with the wrong terms.
