I think that's the biggest thing that gets lost on Calgarians. But there isn't a single event in North America that literally shuts down a major cities' biggest employer for 10 days of partying. You know where companies hold their own parties and encourage the cowboy behavior. There's nothing remotely comparable to it in cities like LA, New York, London, San Fransisco, Tokyo, etc.,
Yes, it can be somewhat annoying as a Calgarian, but it's a pretty unique event and visitors from all over the world love it.
