I actually like luminous a lot for this purpose. It's a gorgeous word itself, and brings up the image of moths to a lantern, which I think is appropriate for the story of Susannah.

I kind of agree. Ravishing is a little too close to ravish which means rape.
The first words I thought of based on the second paragraph in the OP were Fair (like a fair maiden) though this word has multiple meanings,
Gorgeous
Angelic
but I think luminous is best.
