I was not at all surprised that they only released a 4GS today everything out of Apple seemed to hint at that, and the real iPhone 5 hype was all built by the media.

In the U.S. the carriers lock you into 2 year contracts, this is why it appears Apple will go with a all new launch every two years while releasing an upgrade to the device in the off year. Just my two cents.
