I was 26. My wife (girlfriend at that time) was going to school in Edmonton. My dad could see where things were going with us so he told me to stay at home and save my money to buy a house when we got married. We were engaged for a long time before she was done school and got married the summer she was done. Unfortunately I went back to school so we didn't have as much of a down payment as I wanted but we were still able to have a nice down payment for first time owners.
