I went down there and amongst several thoughts and comments.....
certain MLAs were white as a ghost with backing the wrong horse in the race. Others, were just plain classy (Hancock and Quest in particular) - good to see.
The demographic in the room was much different than when Stelmach won. What was old and white, was now young and ethnically much more diverse. I wonder if those who now have a taste of politics will stick around, or if this was a one time thing.
Mar and Horner gave very good, sincere speeches.
Redford's speech brought a fair bit of energy and warmth back into a room that had the life sucked out of it with the delay.
Who would have thought that "red neck Alberta", with it's oil and cowboys, would have a muslim mayor in Calgary and a female premier?
