that's a bit of a misnomer - yes ethanol gas gets you worse mileage, but if you read the fine print on most pumps in this city, they all say "may contain up to 10% ethanol" - So in reality you're just as likely to get the ethanol blended gas at Esso as at Husky, it's just that Husky advertised it for so long we associate ethanol blended gas with them.
Ethanol has ~67% the speific energy as the same volume of gas, so 33% worse fuel economy, all things equal. however since we're talking a 10% blend, that.;s ~3%, which isn't that much, and equals out (back when) you got 91 for the price of 87 at Husky (assuming your car needs 91).
So the savings of 'cheap premium' at Husky is slightly offset by the slightly worse mileage.
This of course is no longer true now that it appears Husky is a 'normal' gas station and doesn't have more/less ethanol then the other stations .
