I'm not sure why we would expect someone else to remove themselves from the public eye to do something that's medically necessary, when we could just look away - if it happens to bother us.
A slight inconvenience on our part to remove a significantly bigger inconvenience on their part. And it's really a stretch to call "looking away from something we don't want to see anyway", even a slight inconvenience.
