Before you throw up, or curse Universal, it seems like it's not going to be a remake in the conventional sense.
Quote:
This new SCARFACE is not intended to be a remake or a sequel. Instead, it will take the common elements of the first two films: an outsider, an immigrant, barges his way into the criminal establishment in pursuit of a twisted version of the American dream, becoming a kingpin through a campaign of ruthlessness and violent ambition.

This story seems to be on various web sites right now, so it's not like it's this one article. A quick google got me 45 news stories.
Scarface is my all time number one movie and when I saw the headline, I wanted to hurt someone. After digging into the story, my anger was subdued a little bit.
I got no problem with them doing a modern take on this very simple story. I just don't like how it looks like it's going to have the same name. Scarface should remain Pacino and Depalma's. And before you mention the 1930's Scarface, don't bother. When people hear the title Scarface, Pacino comes to mind first. The 80's version is an absolute classic. I'd be shocked if more than 3 percent of movie fans have seen the 30's version.
