I usually send the payment info, wait a day, then a follow up email. Keep it positive- things like "If something has changed and you do not intend to purchase, please let me know so I can work with you."
Some people will even bail on a purchase after they have walked into a store and spoken to somebody face to face. Those people will think nothing about bailing on an online purchase. The other thing is people think eBay is the company selling the product; not some random guy.

I did send the payment info on Saturday and then a "nice" e-mail yesterday asking if he was still interested in purchasing. Haven't heard anything yet so I think I will send another one just suggesting he contact me within a timeline and if he doesn't the item will be re-listed.
