The NDP thinks its a good idea for 16 year-olds to vote.
An old poli-sci prof once told me 75% of people are chronic know-nothings and shouldn't be allowed to vote.
Jesse Ventura and Arnold Schwarzeneger are examples of name recognition alone potentially being a decisive factor in selecting a qualified candidate.
You've seen people in this thread who might well be bright and intelligent as well as informed choosing not to vote . . . . . . and you know full well there are plenty of chronic know-nothings who fall for the first lie told to them while eagerly casting their ballots.
There's no such thing as a perfect democracy.
I'd be in favour of a mandatory voting law.
