I've never done prolo, but I know people who have. They told me it didn't do anything for them in terms of actual relief, but in the meantime was excruciating!
To tighten the ligaments wouldn't some kind of targeted exercise be best? I'm no doctor, but that just makes more sense. I have a horrible back as well and I do know what you mean about seeing a lot of therapists, chiropractors, doctors, etc. who all think they know the solution. Frankly its best for me when I'm in good shape and exercising regularly.
