I don't disagree for a second what he did was lame. If it was me, I would pay the guy for the cake out of guilt.
The only point I was making is this guy is ruthless at collecting his debts, and the OP deserves it for screwing the guy over. I am going to stop by and see if the cake is still available on my way home, and see if I can get it for half price.
