Default Recently bought an LG plasma- question re: IR/Burn-In

I have a question regarding IR.

I recently bought a LG Plasma, and had been noticing fairly significant (what I now understand to be) IR if I watched a channel like CNN or TSN for even half an hour. The IR seems to go away after 5 or 10 minutes of watching something else. I looked into this topic on the internet, and read about burn in and IR, so I have since turned down the contrast and brightness (to 45 out of 100), and am looking to avoid any static images/logos, and leave no black/grey bars either on the sides or the top and bottom.

My question is, does this get better over time, after 100-200 hours, or is what I see what I get in terms of image retention for this TV? I'm just wondering if the time the image hangs around is reduced or eliminated over time? I'm planning to use this TV to watch a lot of sports, particularly hockey, so I'm concerned about potentially burning a logo in.

As I've only had the TV for a week, I'm able to return it and pick up a LCD if it's going to be an issue, but I've also heard plasmas are best for sports so I'd prefer to keep the plasma if that's not going to be a problem.
